This is by far my favourite event I have worked so far, the Wedding Co winter show opened its doors at the Wychwood Barns on February 21st. Blessed with beautiful weather the event collected local vendors including photographers, wedding dress designers, florists and more.
Why was this my favourite?
It was laid-back and so welcoming to guests and vendors. There was a real sense of community and no cattiness. I saw so many florists and wedding dress designers support one another it was ultimately very inclusive to everyone.
Wychwood Barns is just magical. I saw it transform from a friendly farmers market to a beautiful wedding market very quickly. Obviously since it’s a barn I’m a tad biased but it’s a really wonderful blend of industrial and rustic features. With artists and play performances it’s a real community hub. The staff is incredible and so kind, they really know the quirks of the place inside and out.
I will say if you were looking for a wedding venue that has any type of exclusive feel this might not be the one for you. People who live in the community kept popping their heads in or artists who have studios can’t really be denied access to their space.
Mostly everyone (here’s looking at you lady with the stroller who almost knocked me over– glad I killed you with kindness) was super sweet though and just wanted to take a peek and ask what was happening.
From the vendors to The Wedding Co crew everyone was just so personable. Even vendors that had been setting up for hours or had technical difficulties were all smiles and happy to help each other. I met a lot of vendors I follow on Instagram and they were the kinds of people I’d want to go for drinks with. My friend Ashley also joined me to help out and I knew some people from the Wed Luxe show so it was nice to see some friendly faces.
The booths and displays
Talk about accomplishing amazing things in small spaces. So much creativity went into these spaces. Here are a few of my faves:
I collect cute aprons and I got to wear a super cute canvas one all day. It had pockets and I loved it. I didn’t get to keep it but maybe I can wear one again next year.
