Wedding experts at The Knot have embraced the digital side of wedding planning with an app that works from the earliest stages of planning onwards. I’m going to focus on The Knot app in this post and their Lookbook app in a separate post since there’s so much content in both.
Available on the App Store or Google Play store The Knot App is entirely free. Like an agenda, coordinator, and address book all in one this little guy even sends alerts to your inbox to keep you on track. Just enter in your wedding date, venue, and a cute photo of you and your honey to start the countdown.
This feature is broken down by monthly items. Check them off and they drop off your visible list giving you the visual gratification of having one less item to complete. Each item has clickable options once expanded to one link that will be useful such as article or image gallery, the option to delete the item if it doesn’t apply to your wedding, and a mark as complete option.
Enter in a rough budget and the app automatically gives you some breakdown guidelines for prices per item. Item prices can be adjusted as you start to learn vendors specific prices. I haven’t quite figured out how to erase items and when I tried to enter 0 dollars I actually crashed the app but I think my version of the app hadn’t been updated. For this example I entered a budget of $25, 000 and this is the result.
Tons of Tips.
Lots of clickable content on this app which is excellent for users who want to learn all they can.Even the items on the checklist can be expanded for tips.
All those lovely images from The Knot’s real weddings are ready to search in the app by theme, colour scheme, or location. Save them to your favourites to easily share your vision and inspiration with your wedding party and vendors.
Quick Access to Your Wedding Website
If you’ve made a wedding website on The Knot or are looking for a domain to host one this app is great to update your site on the fly. Add pictures or edit your massive”how we met” section on your commute. We chose The Knot after having multiple issues with another app (more on that later) and I definitely recommend it.
Type in your wedding location to search vendors in the area. With help from this app and online reviews that’s how I found the bridal shop where I bought my wedding dress and I had a lovely experience.
For the US there’s way more vendors entered then for Canada, I’m not sure if this is just from a lack of updating or Canadian vendors not submitting their businesses, but for places outside of major cities I doubt you would find much info here.
While perusing the vendors list if you decide to reach out the app has a built-in inbox allowing you to inquire without flooding your own email inbox.
Bag this app if:
You’re glued to your phone and want to start planning on the go
You need a little extra help staying on track
You’re using The Knot’s free wedding website hosting
You’re eloping and you have those details covered already.
You paid a wedding planner so you don’t have to think about these things. If you’d rather someone tell you what has
to be done on a need-to-know basis you might be the personality type that finds these kinds of detailed lists overwhelming.
Either way the app is free so why not just give it a shot?
